Block Labels 🔖, Read-Only Docs 📝😍 and More
Last week we added a bunch of features to make your life a little easier!
You are shaping Forestry every day with your feedback and this is exactly what happened with this improvement. You made us aware that Blocks can get hard to navigate when you add the same Block multiple times. To make this easier you can now add a
display_field to label your Blocks.
We believe the best way to explain intricate settings or features is documentation right at your fingertips. The new read-only docs feature allows you to add such a resource inside the content manager making it accessible to you whenever you need it. 👉 Read more here
Lastly, the new exclude field makes your sidebar configuration more flexible.
Block Display Field 🔖
Until now Blocks couldn’t be labelled individually. This caused confusion if the same Block was added multiple times, since all Blocks would carry the same name. The new
display_field allows you to define a field that will be used as a label.

Read-Only Docs 📝😍
These nifty docs live in your sidebar. You can add anything to them (from simple links, to full-fledged contact forms). We looked at some use cases in our latest blog post. 👉Read more here
Using the match field to include & exclude files had the potential to get pretty complicated. That’s why we added a field dedicated to hiding files from a section. The new exclude field uses a simple glob pattern. 👉 See the content section configuration here
